An exciting opportunity for a CMM Programmer & Metrology Inspector to join a leading automotive manufacturing organisation in Wolverhampton, supporting dimensional inspection and quality assurance across components and assemblies. This hands-on, site-based role focuses on programming and operating Zeiss GOM Scanbox and CMM equipment, conducting first article and production inspections, interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T, and producing detailed dimensional reports. Ideal for candidates with experience in Zeiss Calypso, GOM Scanbox, CMM programming, metrology, dimensional inspection, and quality control within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Duties:
Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate and program Zeiss GOM Scanbox Equipment to perform dimensional inspection of components and assemblies.
  • Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to perform dimensional inspection of components and assemblies.
  • Conduct first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections in accordance with quality requirements.
  • Produce, analyse, and communicate dimensional inspection reports using appropriate metrology software. (Zeiss Calypso, Zeiss Inspect etc)
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Verify and maintain inspection equipment in line with calibration and quality system requirements.
  • Develop and improve inspection programs, fixtures, and measurement processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure inspection records and documentation are completed accurately and maintained in accordance with company procedures.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives and continuous improvement projects within the quality and manufacturing functions.
  • Actively support the use of knowledge sharing within the team
  • Work with limited supervision, prioritising workload and making sound technical decisions within established procedures.

Skills:
  • Experience programming GOM Scanbox equipment
  • Experience programming Zeiss Calypso
  • Good communication skills with the ability to support production and engineering teams.
Education:
NVQ Level 3, Indentured apprenticeship, time served apprenticeship relevant to the field of work.
