Overview:
You will be working for a specialist precision manufacturing business in Coventry, producing high-accuracy components for sectors such as automotive, powertrain, transmission, and general engineering. The company operates modern CNC machining centres, including advanced 3- and 4-axis milling machines with Fanuc control and probing systems.
Role Responsibilities:
- Program, set, and operate CNC milling machines with Fanuc controls.
- Work from engineering drawings and CAD/CAM data, interpreting tolerances and GD&T.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding.
- Set work offsets, tool offsets, and utilise probing cycles for setup and in-process verification.
- Conduct first-off and in-process inspections to ensure components meet tight tolerances.
- Optimise machining parameters to improve cycle times and component quality.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of CNC milling machines.
- Complete necessary job documentation and maintain production records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across machining processes and tooling strategies.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a CNC Miller using Fanuc control systems.
- Strong knowledge of G-code, Fanuc programming, and 3-/4-axis milling.
- Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
- Experience with probing systems (e.g., Renishaw) for setup and inspection.
- Understanding of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and material machining characteristics.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a precision engineering environment.
Qualifications:
- NVQ / City & Guilds / BTEC in Manufacturing or Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Health & Safety awareness relevant to machining environments.
- Experience in precision machining, automotive, or subcontract engineering is advantageous.
