Production Manager
Reports to: Head of Manufacturing

Main Purpose of the Role
To be responsible for leading our multi-functional production teams, to help ensure adherence to KPI's with regard to costs, efficiency, quality and customer expectations. To help plan, coordinate and control our production processes, whilst driving continuous improvements via a "right first time" approach. To develop strong relationships with the production teams, other departments and stakeholders.

Scope of the Role
The Production Manager is responsible for managing the overall performance and functionality of the Production Function. This involves ensuring that Processes are optimised for efficiency, and aligned with organisational goals. The Manager oversees the daily Departmental activities, whilst liaising with various departments to identify needs and deliver solutions that enhance productivity and streamline Operations. Additionally, the Production Manager is tasked with managing their Team's attendance, training, output and performance, whist also driving continuous improvement initiatives and managing change effectively, to adapt to new technologies and business requirements. This role requires balancing strategic planning with hands-on management to ensure their Team is effectively supporting the Company's objectives.

Primary Objectives
  • Help carry out recruitment activities
  • Direct and oversee operational production teams
  • Help establish and monitor KPI's and improve where necessary
  • Ensure team motivation and facilitate structured development of all employees via performance management activities, to ensure delivery of KPI's and other strategic objectives
  • Help devise and revise daily Production Plans
  • Allocate appropriate resources in order to achieve daily Production Plans
  • Help ensure all products are manufactured to a high standard, whilst improving efficiencies
  • Collaborate directly with supply chain, production planning and stores colleagues to optimise Production Schedule attainment and achieve customer satisfaction
  • Facilitate daily production meetings, setting targets and ensuring people are held accountable for communication updates and allocated actions
  • Generate continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of Production
  • Ensure effective collaboration with the Sales, Drawing and Quality Departments to ensure effective production planning
  • Implement and adhere to all statutory health and safety-related compliance requirements
  • Assist the HSQE Manager in the management of the departmental Quality Assurance system - ISO 9001
  • Collect and analyse production and process data and its effective use in order to achieve KPI's and other objectives
  • Effectively communicate results and Action Plans to all employees and the Senior Management Team
  • Attend and contribute to all relevant meetings
  • Collaborate directly with Human Resources to manage absence, manage performance, discipline, and ensure suitable resolution for employee issues or concerns
  • Help initiate cost saving measures relating to all aspects of the business

Secondary Objectives
  • Ensure effective collaboration with the Sales, Drawing, Planning and Quality Departments to ensure effective production planning.
  • Effectively communicate results and action plans to all employees and Senior Stakeholders.
  • Ensure all products are manufactured to a high standard whilst improving efficiencies.
  • Collaborate directly with production planning and Stores department to optimise Schedule / Plan attainment.
  • Attend daily production meetings and disseminate communication updates and actions.
  • Allocate appropriate resources where needed.
  • Collect and analyse data and its effective use to develop and achieve Key Targets and Objectives.
  • Assistance in ensuring maintenance of the Departmental Quality Assurance system - ISO9001.
  • Generate continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of the department.
  • Ensure team motivation and facilitate structured development of all employees through appraisals to ensure delivery of Strategic Objectives.
  • Collaborate directly with Human Resources to ensure employee issues or concerns are correctly addressed and resolved.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required for Role
  • 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Relevant formal Qualification(s) in Management.
  • Good standard of Maths and English.
  • Knowledge of modern Manufacturing Production and Quality Processes.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in a manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good planning skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict and lead difficult conversations
  • Resilient.
