An exciting opportunity for an Emissions Test Engineer to join a leading automotive engineering team in Coventry, supporting the testing and validation of advanced vehicle propulsion and emissions systems. This hands-on role focuses on chassis dynamometer operation, vehicle preparation, emissions testing, data acquisition, and test facility support, ensuring accurate, safe, and repeatable validation of conventional and electrified powertrains. Ideal for candidates with experience in emissions testing, dynamometer operation, AVL or ETAS tools, vehicle instrumentation, and automotive test environments.
Location: Coventry
Role profile
The Opportunity
This role provides a hands?on opportunity to support the operation of the Environmental Chassis Emissions Dynamometer at the APRL facility. Working as part of a small, collaborative team, you will engage directly with engineers, academic partners, and third?party customers to deliver high?quality test operations across a range of propulsion and emissions programmes.
Reporting to the Test Preparation Engineer, you will be responsible for the end?to?end execution of chassis dyno testing activities. This includes vehicle check?in, inspection, preparation, and installation on the dynamometer, ensuring correct positioning, strapping, wheel alignment, and roller engagement. You will ensure vehicle readiness by verifying fuel levels, tyres, pressures, fluids, and calibration status, as well as confirming correct instrumentation setup prior to testing.
You will operate the dyno and drive tests in accordance with required standards, maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and repeatability. Post?test, you will support safe de?instrumentation, vehicle removal, and restoration of the dyno cell to a clean and ready state. This role requires a proactive, detail?oriented individual with a strong practical understanding of vehicle testing and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards.
